BLACKROCK AQUIRES GLOBAL INFRASTRUCTURE PARTNERS (GIP) FOR $12.5B

BlackRock, the largest multinational investment management corporation in the world has agreed to purchase Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). GIP was founded by Adebayo Ogunlesi, a Nigerian Layer and investment banker.

GIP is the largest independent infrastructure manager in the world with equity investments in the energy, transport and water & waste sectors.

The infrastructure market today is a $1 trillion market. Experts project it to be one of the fastest growing segments of private markets in the years to come.

This market sector is increasing in the demand globally for upgrade in digital infrastructure such as energy security, fibre broadband, cell towers and call centres.
